Adventures, near and far!

The Rabbits have been making their very own snow scene this week.  They have made their own Inuit and igloo for their chilly back drop.  The Ice palace is now in the very last stages of completion.  Miss Dixon and the Rabbits would like to say a massive thank you to all who brought “building materials,”  no more milk bottles are needed.

The Dragonflies have been looking at the Seasons this week, they have been making a seasonal tree display and decorated their crispy cakes as the four seasons.

The Otters have been continuing their theatrical journey to Ancient Greece!  They have made beautiful masks and put a lot of effort into making them unique and individual.  The children have also been reading the Greek stories of the Wooden horse of Troy and The 12 Labours of Herekles.

Some of the children went on the Beaumanor Residential trip.  All the children had a wonderful time and behaved beautifully!  Click the link to see what the children got up to on their adventure.

Igloos, Ancient Greek theatre and Leonardo de Vinci - what a mixture this week!

Although it has been a very chilly week, this has not stopped the Riverbank children working as hard as ever.
The Rabbits have been exploring the life of an Inuit, looking at where they live, what they eat and how they travel.  The children have made their very own igloos and for their cooking lesson they even made a gingerbread igloo hut!  The Ice Palace is still being constructed, but it’s worth the wait!

The Dragonflies have been learning all about Leonardo de Vinci, he was a man of many talents!  Not only a famous Artist and Musician he was also a fantastic inventor.    The children have really enjoyed looking at his beautiful paintings.  Over the next week the children hope to recreate a self-portrait in the style of Leonardo de Vinci.

The Otters have been continuing their Ancient Greek adventures, they have been learning about Greek theatre. In Literacy they are working on their performance of a Greek legend, It’s very impressive!

The Riverbank School Council representative is visiting Derby today to plant trees today.  We are very much looking forward to hearing how the trip went.

Ice palaces, Ancient Greece and Art - whatever next?

You are never going to believe what the children in the Riverbank have been doing...

This week, the Rabbits have continued to learn about the 4 seasons and in particular winter.  They have made a beautiful winter wonderland display and have been kept extra busy by Miss Dixon making an ice palace!  The big reveal is scheduled for next week so stay tuned for the grand unveiling!

The Dragonflies have been artists this week, the children have been working on shading in their topic lesson and learning about the different pencil gradings,  Miss Brown says that the children were very precise and listened to instructions brilliantly!

The Otters have been travelling back in time to explore the Ancient Greeks!  It has been wonderful to see them create their own timelines and hear the Ancient Greek Myths.  That’s not all the Otters have been doing, this week the children joined their year 5 partner class and took part in a fantastic gymnastics lesson!

If you have any plastic milk bottles that you would like to donate to the ice palace construction team please send them in, a huge thank you to all who have already sent lots in already.
