Gardening, castles and Gurdwaras!

The children in the Riverbank enjoyed another busy week last week.  Both the Otters and the Rabbits did a spot of gardening and have been planting seeds.  They are keeping an eye on the plants and testing to see whether or not different conditions effect the growth, watch this space for the results!

The Dragonflies have painted their very own castles and produced some beautiful work!  The Otters also visited the the Gurdwara with year 4 and had a hands on morning learning about Sikhism.

Happy Vaisakhi!

It has been an extremely busy week for everyone here at Brookside.  We had the official opening of our new building and on Friday we spent the afternoon celebrating Vaisakhi.  The celebrations included a fantastic assembly by Year 3 who recreated the story of Vaisakhi which was followed by a march around the playground with the whole school!  It was an exciting afternoon and the children in the Riverbank had a brilliant time.

Welcome back!

Welcome back! Hope you all had a lovely Easter break.

The children in The Riverbank have been busy getting to grips with their new topics.....

The Rabbits have been focusing on the history of Leicester this week and have had a great time learning all about Lady Jane Grey. Ask your child if they can re-call any fantastic facts about her.

The Otters have made an enthusiastic start to their new Rainforest topic by exploring the Amazon Rainforest in geography and used a tropical fruit to make a delicious pineapple upside down cake! They also have started to read 'The Great Kapok Tree' and the 'Great Green forest.'

The Drgaonflies have made a good start to their 'Turrets and Tiaras' topic and are looking forward to exploring this further....Watch this space!
